Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center

Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center encompasses two hospital campuses, Oak Grove and Westwood (approximately a mile apart), which provide numerous health care services and facilities including cancer treatment centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation facilities.

Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center has a wide range of sub-specialty services including cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, ENT, Nephrology, orthopedics, pediatrics, rheumatology, pulmonology, critical care, urology, OBGYN, and robotic surgery. Recent data shows that Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center has approximately 11,000 discharges in a year, with 410 licensed beds and does approximately 8,500 surgical cases in a year.


Saint Francis Healthcare – Cape Physician Associates

Cape Physician Associates is the site for the rheumatology rotation. The practice has been delivering care to Cape Girardeau and southeast Missouri for generations. Residents will work one-on-one with board certified rheumatologist, Dr. Amjad Roumany, providing care to patients with arthritis and other diseases of the joints, muscles and bones.


Saint Francis Medical Center – Cape Diabetes and Endocrinology

Residents rotate at St. Francis Cape Diabetes and Endocrinology for their Endocrinology rotation. This is an outpatient rotation with a 1:1 faculty to resident ratio. Residents gain experience managing common metabolic disorders.


Medical Specialists of Southeast Missouri

Medical Specialists of Southeast Missouri will be the site dedicated for all residents to complete their Infectious Disease rotation. This is a 100% outpatient rotation wherein residents work one-on-one with Dr. Lavalle, the board certified subspecialty education coordinator for Infectious Disease. This ambulatory practice is the primary referral practice for both St. Francis Medical Center and Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau. The residents will evaluate, treat, and monitor common chronic infections like osteomyelitis, indwelling line and vascular graft infections, and many others while assigned to this rotation.


Westwood Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center

Residents will rotate at Westwood Hills Health Care Center as part of the geriatrics rotation. Westwood is a 132-bed skilled nursing facility staffed with skilled nurses, Physical, Occupational and Speech therapists, and other licensed professionals. Residents will see patients with Drs. Riffle and Caldwell. The residents will be providing care and management of patients with conditions including but not limited to, patients with tracheostomies, IVs, wounds, congestive heart failure, Alzheimer’s, COPD, diabetes and depression.


Ozark Nephrology

Ozark Nephrology is a busy ambulatory nephrology practice in Poplar Bluff, MO and the site for the Nephrology rotation. Residents work one-on-one with Dr. Raghuveer Kura, the board certified subspecialty education coordinator for nephrology to diagnose and treat patients with kidney conditions.
